We have set ourselves an exciting challenge…. we have a team who would love to bring And Then There Were None to our Mortimer stage in October 2023 (show nights 20th, 21st, 27th, 28th).
And Then There Were None is an Agatha Christie mystery, basically a locked room mystery but on a cut-off island, with a plot full of suspense and many murders. It was a standalone novel, unusual for Christie, which has been adapted into stage and tv format and has proven to be popular with audiences in all forms. We have had the scripts for this one for a while and many of you may be familiar with the script following our play reading.
There are 11 cast members in this dark play which will give us chance to stretch our acting muscles. We need 8 males and 3 females, across a good range of adult ages. We have a choice of two endings, the original 1939 ending which is delightfully dark, or the revised 1943 ending which leaves us with a little glimmer of hope…. but which shall we choose?
This play offers great opportunities for lots of involvement in all aspects of creating theatre. We will need set designers, costume enthusiasts, lighting and sound support, performers, stage crew, front of house team, set builders, set dressers, and more… and, of course, lots of support getting the word around so we can fill our hall with excited audience members.
So, the big question….do we have what it takes?
Step one. To find out if we have enough performers interested in this show we will be holding auditions and have a date for your diaries. Please pass on the word to any budding actors you know! Anyone who would like to audition for a part please pencil in Monday 26th June at 8pm and join us at St John’s Hall, Mortimer. Please note that all those involved in the October ’23 show will need to enrol in membership for 2023/24, which means they will be eligible for all other shows and activities for the remainder of the season!
Should we not attract enough actors throughout this audition opportunity we will look for alternative shows with cast sizes relevant to turnout. If you are interested please make sure we have visibility of you!
